Senior Analyst, Accounting and Controls

Position Summary

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Senior Analyst, Accounting and Controls is responsible for supporting with all aspects relating to the organization’s financial close process and internal controls (compliance with NI 52-109).

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the financial close process by preparing, analyzing, or reviewing journal entries, supporting schedules and account reconciliations for the quarterly and annual preparation of the financial statements;
  • Identify opportunities to improve the organization’s financial operations and financial close process to optimize resource allocation and leverage technologies;
  • Work closely with external auditors during the quarterly reviews and year-end audit;
  • Assist with the review and implementation of new financial processes relating to new revenue streams, products, and financial systems;
  • Plan and coordinate the annual review of internal control narratives and risk control matrices;
  • Support business process owners with improving internal documentation and strengthening of internal controls;
  • Develop a deep understanding of the organization’s business, processes and internal controls and identify actions necessary to mitigate risks and improve efficiency;
  • Develop a testing strategy and plan for the year by determining the extent and timing of testing required;
  • Lead internal control considerations for new financial processes or implementation of new systems;
  • Establish specific follow-up procedures to monitor the implementation of internal control action plans;
  • Assist the Corporate Controller and external consultants in the establishment and training for 52-109 controls in an affiliated company.

Job Requirements

  • Three (3) to four (4) years’ experience working with large and publicly traded corporations; Big 4 experience an asset;
  • Opportunity for limited travel;
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and NI 52-109 control requirements;
  • Experience with ITGC (Information Technology General Controls) would be an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written communications);
  • Ability to organize, multitask and meet deadlines in a fast paced and changing environment;
  • Strong team player with a continuous improvement mindset;
  • SAP knowledge is a strong asset;
  • Bilingualism French and English.
